What different model stakes do best

8-inch stakes: Weigh between 4.1-4.4 grams. Great for an array of conditions as well as a valuable performance upgrade for specific shelters. The ideal application for 8-inchers is soft, loose, or sandy soil. In these conditions the 8-inch model provides maximum holding power due, in part, to the 1/4” diameter of all @Stakes but is especially boosted by the increased length. These are 1.5-2” longer than most standard stakes. We carry four 8-inch @Stakes for our myog Kensho 2 tent (www.DubberDesigns.com). At each corner the longer stakes enable the roof of the tent to be raised and set higher than the bathtub floor allowing increased ventilation and, as a result, decreased condensation. The longer stake is more flexible and some care must be taken when forcing the 8-inch stake into hardpack or rocky soil. Carbon fiber does not bend like aluminum, titanium, or steel.

6-inch stakes: Weigh between 3-3.5 grams. The most versatile length stake. We find this to be the ideal size for staking out your shelter in almost all soil and weather conditions. This standard stake size is designed to fit snug into the ground while leaving some space above for guy line adjustment.

3-inch stakes: Weigh between 2-2.3 grams. Dubbed the Little Buddy, these 3-inch stakes are an excellent option for use in tough soil conditions: hardpack, rocks, clay, etc. Easier to fully embed, Little Buddies can prevent slackening guy lines that longer stakes sometimes allow. Slackened guy lines and partially collapsed shelters can occur when increased leverage on partially exposed stakes causes the stake to shift, guy lines slacken, and tent walls, flies, etc lose their tautness making them even more susceptible to the effects of wind, rain, snow, and careless campers.

Each stake is crafted using carbon fiber arrow shafts, which is how we keep our stakes so light!

We also add aluminum points and reinforcements to each arrow to keep it strong and durable for all your camping or backpacking adventures.

Our loops are made from 1/8” grosgrain or Atwood reflective micro-cord with a tensile strength of 100lbs.
